Coated and Water-Resistant Zippers

Coated and water-resistant zipper constructions are selected when the zipper area needs more protection from incidental moisture than a standard zipper can provide. They should not be described as fully waterproof unless the complete finished product and seam construction have been specifically tested for that claim. Choose by zipper type, chain size, end configuration, length and the surface behavior required by the application.
Do not treat coating as a complete waterproofing system
The zipper is only one part of the finished product. Stitching, seam construction, slider area and surrounding textile can all influence water entry. Use the coated zipper as one component of a larger product design and validate the assembled result.
Match chain and end type before appearance

Test the zipper in the real seam allowance and fabric stack. Check slider movement, fold behavior, coating appearance and edge clearance before production.
